I’m Supriya Durgam, LCSW-C—a South Asian millennial therapist in D.C., with nearly a decade of experience. If you’re going through a big change, carrying stress or trauma, or simply realizing you deserve to feel more grounded, you’re in the right place. My practice is a space where you can be honest, messy, curious, and completely yourself—without judgment or pressure to have it all figured out.

Hi, I'm Supriya Durgam, founder and lead therapist at SD Psychotherapy, and I’m deeply grateful to do work that allows me to support others each day. I believe meaningful change happens when people feel genuinely seen and supported. My style is collaborative, down-to-earth, and guided by curiosity—therapy should be a space where you can show up fully as yourself.

I grew up in Montgomery County and discovered my love for psychology very early on. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Maryland and later completed my Master of Social Work at Columbia University, experiences that shaped both my clinical foundation and commitment to culturally responsive care.

 

My goal is to make therapy feel approachable and comfortable from the moment you walk in. I create a comfortable and safe environment where you don’t have to explain your background before sharing your story—and where you can grow at a pace that feels right for you. Whether you're experiencing anxiety, living with ADHD, navigating family conflict, coming to therapy for the first time, or coming back after a long pause, you're in the right place.
